Kenniscentrum Evenementen

The kenniscentrum evenementen (KCE) is at the heart of events organization in The Hague.  As part of Den Haag Marketing, this advisory and implementation agency works actively for the municipality, event organizers and the public. The KCE advises The Hague’s municipality on events and is responsible for preparing, implementing and controlling the subsidy procedures for events in the tourism-promotional sector. The KCE also acts as an advocate for the events sector and plays an advisory, supervisory and supporting role for event organizers.

Key areas
In addition to the activities mentioned above, the KCE concentrates on a number of key areas: policy, collaboration, research, trends & innovation, sponsoring, education and service.

Policy
Successfully and professionally-organized events begin with a clear and specific policy. The KCE contributes not only to the formulation of this policy but also the distribution of it by means of, for example, the handbook for events in The Hague.

This handbook contains practical information such as the events policy of The Hague’s municipality and a description of procedures for requesting subsidies and permits. It also sets out required criteria, available budgets and alternative forms of support such as promotional support. A directory of event organizers in The Hague, as well as a list of the most important event locations in the city and a list of important addresses complement the information. The KCE updates the handbook every year.

Collaboration
The KCE actively promotes collaboration between parties inside and outside The Hague which are involved in events.

Research
The KCE continuously carries out two types of research. The first is barometer research used to observe the number of visitors and evaluate feedback from visitors, sponsors and stakeholders. The second analyzes medium and large-scale events to see how far they have gone to fulfilling the previously mentioned key areas and criteria.  The KCE gives, where necessary, advice and suggestions for improvement.

Trends & innovation
KCE uses its expertise to keep in touch with the national and international events market.  Trends and developments are indentified early and tested for suitability and/or consequences for The Hague’s events policy. In addition, the KCE encourages original and attractive events by stimulating innovations in the sector.

Sponsoring
The KCE seeks sponsoring for events in The Hague that receive a subsidy from the municipality’s City Development Department. Upon request, the KCE also provides details of potential sponsors to organizers and organizes sponsor gatherings.

Service
On the basis of needs analyses, the KCE supplies organizers with events-related products which they can use to collaborate, such as (collective) insurances.

Education
The KCE ensures the professional development and contribution of The Hague’s event sector by providing educational products such as workshops, courses and work experience.

The KCE is a part of Den Haag Marketing and came into operation as the result of the municipality’s budget ‘Events Vision The Hague 2004-2010’. Den Haag Marketing no longer organizes events itself.
