The Hague Festivals

The Hague Festivals form a key city marketing instrument for The Hague and clearly contribute to the economic promotion of the city. At this point, the focus is on attracting as many local and regional visitors as possible. In due course, ever more visitors from outside The Hague will have to be attracted by the festival’s events. From 2010 onwards, The Hague Festivals will be promoted internationally, among other things in an international City Break programme.

The Hague Festivals feature many events, existing and new ones, converging in the centre of The Hague. The five pillars of The Hague Festivals are the Festival Classique, The Hague Sculpture, Shopping Night, National Veterans’ Day and Parkpop. In 2009, The Hague Festivals will take place from 12 up to and including 28 June. This year, Pink Saturday will be part of the programme.

Hommerson Beach stadium

The Beach Stadium, sponsored by Hommerson BV, can be found along Scheveningen beach, near the pier. The ground holds a maximum of 2,000 people (the number varies for every event) and boasts many facilities, such as VIP rooms, stands, catering, toilets, a first aid post, sound equipment and entrance checkpoints.

The stadium is used for beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach tennis, beach hockey, and beach handball. The Leisure Marketing Department aims to promote the Hommerson Beach Stadium as a public venue. The campaign covers the wider region and targets mainly young people and sports enthusiasts that are into sports matches and sports events.
