Easter weekend good for The Hague Museums, shopping and theatre popular
The Hague can look back on a busy Easter weekend. Thanks to the weather, Good Friday this year was even busier than in 2009 when Easter came later in April and temperatures were almost summer like.
Easter Sunday and Monday were also comparable with last year. Visitors to The Hague consisted mainly of Dutch, German and Spanish tourists. Interest in the coast was not as great this year because of the weather. Museums, attractions, shopping and theatre were conversely extra popular.
At the Tourist Information Office (VVV Den Haag) on the Hofweg, the bulk of the questions were about shopping and opening hours. Visitors were pleased that the shops in the city centre were open on Easter Monday. The most popular museums and attractions were the Gemeentemuseum and the Omniversum. The ‘Haute Couture’ and ‘Kandinsky & Der Blaue Reiter’ in the Gemeentemuseum appeared to be big crowd pullers.
World city
The Tourist Information Office registered visitors from the whole world including North and South America, Russia, Scandinavia, France, Belgium and Asia. The top three nationalities were Dutch (many from the region), German and Spanish.
Den Haag Marketing
The Hague Convention & Visitors Bureau (Den Haag Marketing) is the umbrella organisation for marketing and promoting The Hague and its two beach resorts, Scheveningen and Kijkduin. The Haags Uitburo, the Tourist Information Offices (VVV), the Convention Bureau and Den Haag Topsport all fall under Den Haag Marketing.
