The Hague Festivals second best festival in the world
The Hague wins no less than 16 Pinnacle Awards
THE HAGUE / INDIANAPOLIS - The Hague Festivals was one of the big winners last night at the prestigious Pinnacle Awards. The Hague Festivals was awarded the Silver Grand Pinnacle which means it was crowned as the second best festival in the world. In addition to this, the festival received prizes in no less than 15 categories at the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards during the 54th conference of the IFEA (International Festivals & Events Association) in Indianapolis Indiana.
Pinnacle Awards: the oscars for festivals & events
The annual Pinnacle Awards are aimed at the marketing and promotion of festivals over the entire world. This year more than 2000 items were sent in by festival organisations. Besides the Silver Grand Pinnacle, The Hague Festivals also won gold for the Festival Paper, the flags & banners, the mobile festival guide, the TV West Festival Television News, the Festival Classique broadcast by the AVRO and a typical Dutch invention: a The Hague Festivals bike saddle cover.
The Municipal Councillor responsible for City marketing, Frits Huffnagel: “Yet again, The Hague Festivals receives international recognition with these prizes. It is an unparalleled achievement that we have won this amount of prizes in three years time.” The Hague Festivals puts The Hague on the map at a national and international level. To celebrate winning the prize, the Municipal Councillor will be offering cake in the council chamber this evening.
About The Hague Festivals 2009
The Hague Festivals is The Hague’s festival period during the month of June and it joins together new and existing events. Countless events were organised from 12 to 28 June 2009 including Festival Classique, The Hague Sculpture, ShoppingNight, Dutch Veteran Day, Parkpop, and this year; Pink Saturday. So, The Hague Festivals has something for everyone. In 2010 The Hague Festivals will take place from 10 to 27 June. The opening of the festival period will be The Hague Jazz.
