Lonely Planet opens the first Dutch blogger house in The Hague

25 April 2016

The Hague beach at Kijkduin was last weekend's venue for the opening of the first Dutch blogger house for Julie Falconer of Lonely Planet. Julie is the first person to stay in the special beach house for travel bloggers and vloggers. The Hague Blogger House is a shared initiative of HaagseStrandhuisjes and Den Haag Marketing. The Hague is the first city in the Netherlands to have a house available to bloggers and vloggers for the purpose of promoting the city.

Julie Falconer was born in San Francisco, but has lived in London for years where she started the popular travel blog A Lady in London and is one of the bloggers for Lonely Planet. To mark the official opening, Julie placed her signature on the surfboard in The Hague Blogger House. During the coming months many more signatures will follow from travel bloggers and vloggers from at home and abroad who come to stay at the house for one or more days. For example, during the first week bloggers from Travelvalley and the popular Mohsin op Wereldreis stay in the house. The Hague Blogger House is already a big success.

Jeroen Struving, owner of HaagseStrandhuisjes: “As a starting family business, after years of preparation we can finally make our dream a reality: beach houses in The Hague. It is our great honour to be able to receive influential bloggers from all corners of the world during the coming months.”

Marco Esser, director of The Hague Marketing: “We received so many requests from vloggers and bloggers across the globe that we were forced to make a precise selection. I am convinced that the bloggers and vloggers will have a fantastic time now that they can experience our beautiful city behind the dunes.”

The Hague Blogger House is located on the Hague beach at Kijkduin and is open until the end of the summer. Travel press is given the opportunity to experience the only Dutch seaside city as locals. Bloggers and vloggers from all corners of the world can share their personal experiences with the rest of the world. With the Blogger House, The Hague Marketing is responding to the trend that people are increasingly seeking holiday destinations online. The goal is to generate more attention for the city. Bloggers and vloggers have complete freedom. In The Hague Blogger House they have access to Wi-Fi and a 4G network. Typical Hague refreshments, a customised programme and transport have all been arranged.

The Hague Blogger House is a shared initiative of HaagseStrandhuisjes and The Hague Marketing. HaagseStrandhuisjes is synonymous with enjoying the beach in an authentic Hague beach house, a stone's throw away from all that the royal city has to offer. The Hague Marketing is the umbrella marketing and promotion organization for the city of The Hague, including its two seaside resorts Scheveningen and Kijkduin.
